If you can find it it's an incredible book about Bach's whole approach to counterpoint and it was written with the practical aim of helping music students in grad school write fugues for master's exams. You might want to try Leo Brouwer's Fuga for solo guitar since it's a fugue but it's on a small enough of a scale that it may be easier to tackle than some of Bach's stuff.Ī great book on fugue is George Oldroyd's The Technique and Spirit of Fugue. Thing is they're not going to be especially easy and they tend to be long for contrapuntal works adapted to the guitar. If you're interested in playing fugues on guitar my advice would be to find transcriptions of Bach fugues here or an edition of Bach's violin sonatas transcribed for solo guitar.
